Image making is the way we figure out what is real, the difference between reality and the appearance

For those who Lack of clarity.

If we see that we are making a mistake, then we are learning
Theres a learning process and how the eyesight can fail and succeed
From Chauvet to Plato for example,  I think we can track the achievement of a heightened aware-ness of our ways of noticing reality, not as an ‘intellectualization » of reality, but as series of visual, artistic accomplishments- a significant shift, precisely, in our own play with light and shadows.

The lion eyes look upon the world without beholding it-  they don’t make stuff to just ‘look at it’

The lion look is the look on what could be eaten.

Art looking is a beholding so that it doesn’t have a repetitive request.

Determining a picture to be a made -image- is not just a matter of differential perceptive responsiveness, in other other words, being  able to make that kind of distinction does not just come with successfully inhabiting an environment, which is, again, not to say that such distractions are possible for creatures with non ‘ human eyes’
